Space, but make it Fashion! Prada Unviels Spacesuit Co-Designed with Axiom Space
The luxury Italian fashion house, Prada, unveiled the spacesuit co-designed with Axion Space for NASA's return to the moon.
The space suit was revealed to the public at the International Astronautical Congress in Milan, Italy. The suit will be worn on NASA's Artemis III's lunar mission. Astronauts scheduled for the mission and to wear the suits include Victor Glover, the first Black man to walk on the moon, Christina Koch, the first woman to walk on the moon, Reid Wiseman, and Jeremy Hansen (NASA).
The suits are made with a white material that protects from heat, high temperature, and lunar dust. The design acumen ensconced in the Prada fashion house provided advanced technologies and cutting-edge sewing methods that bridged the gap between a functional and aesthetically pleasing outer layer.

About the Suit from Axiom Space:
Advancing NASA’s Exploration Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) spacesuit design, the AxEMU provides increased flexibility, performance, and safety, as well as specialized tools to aid in exploring the lunar south pole. The suit accommodates a wide range of crewmembers, including males and females from the first to 99th percentile (anthropomorphic sizing). It will withstand extreme temperatures at the lunar south pole and endure the coldest temperatures in the permanently shadowed regions for at least two hours. Astronauts will be able to perform spacewalks for at least eight hours. The AxEUMU suit is still in its testing phase. It successfully completed a pressurized simulation with Artemis II partners that include Space X, NASA, and Axiom Space. This was the first test of its kind since the Apollo era. More testing is to come including crewed underwater testing.
